This post is to clear the doubt of teachers about the actual resuming date for Junior High School (JHS) second semester. Teachers are to be informed that the Ghana Education Service (GES) has already prepared an academic calendar for the Junior High Schools (JHS) across the country. This is a semester-based calendar. Students at this level were asked to go home on the 12th of June, 2021 to have a rest after 6 months stay in school.
There have been a lot of brouhaha about the actual reopening date of JHS but we wish to establish a fact concerning the actual fate of reopening.
UNCONFIRMED REPORTS MAKING WAVES CONCERNING THE RESUMPTION OF JHS FIR THE SECOND SEMESTER IN THE COUNTRY
According to unconfirmed reports sighted by educandghana.net, the Ghana Education Service has extended the reopening date for the JHS level. Articles sighted also indicate that the reopening date has been extended to 13th June 2021. According to the academic calendar, the students in the Junior High school would have resume hopefully on 6th July 2021 but the Ghana Education Service has postponed the resumption date from 6th July 2021 to 13th July 2021. The reason behind the postponement is that the students have spent a lot of days in school so they should spend one month at home.
WHAT IS THE ACTUAL REOPENING DATE FOR JHS?
Educandghana.net can vividly confirm that the resumption date for reopening has not changed. According to a GES Directorate official who agreed to speak to educandghana.net in anonymity revealed that currently, there is no authenticity of the new resuming date making rounds on the various social media platforms hence the need to ignore it. According to him, the only reliable date for resuming is 6th July 2021 and end on 8th December 2021.
