Adutwum presents citations to best performing schools in the Central Region

The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has presented citations to best performing schools in the Central Region of Ghana. He did this as part of his normal working visits to the various regions, on Wednesday, 16th June 2021 where He undertook three educational activities.

The first activity involved an hour interview on Atlantic radio, a local radio station to discuss issues relating to the development of education in the country.

He proceeded to present citations to seven top Senior High Schools in the region for being the best performing schools during the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

The citations went to 10% out of the 76 Senior High Schools who scored the highest marks cumulatively in eight subjects from A1 to C6 and it was aimed at motivating the schools to continue working very hard to improve on their academic records.

Wesley Girls SHS was honored for being the best in the Central region while St Augustine came 2nd. St Theresa’s Seminary placed 3rd with the 4th and 5th positions going to Holy Child and Mfantsipim.

The honours for 6th and 7th positions went to Ghana National College and Besease Ejumako SHS.

The final event for the day at Cape Coast was the inauguration of the Institute for Education Planning and Administration (IEPA) as UNESCO Category II Centre of Excellence.

The launching makes it the first institution to be granted that status in Ghana which also marks the 45 years of delivery excellent education in the country.

The minister however pledged to support IEPA towards the attainment of the government’s effort towards the transformation of the nation’s economy through education.
