Amenfi East: Teachers charged GHS15 before issuing laptops, calls for GES intervention
Teachers in the Amenfi East Municipal have called on the Director-General of GES to intervene in the situation they describe as a cheat.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Amenfi East Municipal has charged teachers an amount of GHS15.00 during the distribution of the laptops to teachers under the one teacher one laptop initiative.
A concerned teacher who narrated his ordeal to Educand Ghana Network revealed that the municipal director in collaboration with the IT Coordinator asked all Junior High School (JHS) teachers to pay an amount of 15 Cedis if they wanted the laptops.
According to him, neither the municipal director nor any official explained to them why they were paying such an amount for an already paid-for item. The teachers have labelled the education directorate as one of the most corrupt institutions in Ghana and have called on the Ghana Education Headquarters to intervene in the matter.
