Basic and second cycle schools resume today after Easter break

Schools across the country are expected to resume today and begin academic works on Wednesday, 7th April 2021 after easter break.

On 1st April 2021, the Ghana Education Service (GES) directed all schools both basic and second cycle schools to go on Easter break. A statement signed by the Director-General of GES, Prof. Kwasi Opoku Amankwah indicated that the break ends on Tuesday and classes resume on Wednesday.

“Easter break starts on Thursday, 1st April 2021 and ends on Tuesday, 6th April 2021 and classes resumes on Wednesday 7th April 2021”, the statement added.

It however appears that most schools are yet to resume because the communique issued by the GES seems to contradict the understanding of most teachers. The Director-General speaking to the media yesterday, 5th April 2021, indicated that schools across the country are expected to resume today. This covers senior high schools, primary and Junior high schools.

Teachers are expected to supervise the students to undertake cleanup exercises in the school which will pave way for academic works on Wednesday.
