1T1L: Basic school teachers to receive their laptops, Lesson Notes will be Digitized-GES

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has revealed that public basic school teachers across the country will receive their laptops in January 2022 to facilitate the digitization of lesson notes preparation.

A statement signed by the Head of Public Relations at the GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo reveals that 80% of the 62,000 laptops for senior high school teachers have been delivered across the sixteen regions in Ghana.  The distribution process at the SHS level is expected to be completed on the 17th of December 2021.

According to GES, the second and third phases of distribution commence in January 2022 and this is to mainly cater for the JHS and primary school teachers. This means teachers at the basic level will receive the said laptops when school resumes.

Teachers have, however, been reminded by the service that the TM1 laptop has a training component where teachers will receive technical support from their district ICT Coordinators. According to the GES, the digital online training and learning modules will commence in the coming weeks for every teacher.

The service has indicated that the training will include digitizing lesson notes, using online tools for learning management and supporting learners. These online training will attract CPD points for teachers who participate.

However, NaCCA and GES approved textbooks will be uploaded online for teachers to have access to them.
