The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has assented to the decision of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police department to investigate issues related to the supply of food items to some 53 Senior High Schools in the Ashanti Region.
A letter dated 24/04/2021 and signed by the Deputy Director-General of GES, Anthony Boateng indicates that the Regional Director of Education in the Ashanti has been propelled to ensure that the various district directors release headmasters, headmistresses, and any other being involved in the act upon request from the CID.
“You are hereby directed to request the respective District Directors of Education to release the Headmaster/Mistress or the Assistants, Domestic Bursars, Accountants and storekeepers at the attached list of schools to the CID for investgaions ,if requested”, the letter indicated.
The GES has however urged the Ashanti Regional Education Directorate to cooperate fully with the CID in carrying out the investigations.
