GES Recruitment: Here is why distance graduates must be included
It saddens my heart as a concerned citizen to come out with this write up which seeks to draw the attention of GES to the plight of Distance Diploma in basic education holders who have toiled to pass through the rigorous system of education in UCC and UEW to earned themselves such certificate which guarantees them the right to teach.
Over the years, holders of DBE have registered their displeasure to GES following the annual recruitment of trained teachers in the teaching field.
Many graduates from the aforementioned institutions are always left to their fate anytime the GES recruitment portal is opened. And the multimillion questions that the said graduates keep asking are that, is their course not approved by NATIONAL ACCREDITATION BOARD? Again, don’t they deserve to be employed into GES since their certificates are awarded to them by such two respected educational institutions in Ghana–is UEW and UCC?
It’s very true to come out with counter-argument that the government of Ghana has spent state resources in training College of education graduates and for that matter, they must be absorbed into teaching field so as to get benefits from such graduates. Having said that, it’s equally needful to also consider DIPLOMA IN BASIC EDUCATION holders who got their certificates from the same institutions that award similar certificates to the former (COLLEGE OF EDUCATION GRADUATES). Because distance education students are also children of Ghana and must not be completely left out in GES recruitment.
GHANA EDUCATION SERVICE (GES) MUST HAVE SLOTS FOR DISTANCE DIPLOMA IN BASIC EDUCATION GRADUATES WHEN THE NEXT RECRUITMENT PORTAL IS OPENED. THE INEQUALITY IN THE SYSTEM IS TOO MUCH -BY A CONCERNED GRADUATE.
