Speaking as the guest of honor at the launch of licensing at the ministry of education headquarters on the 14th of May 2021, the minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament for the Bosomtwe constituency gave detailed accounts of how he is always confronted with complaints from teachers and other GES staff concerning salaries, promotions, and upgrading. He expressed how troubled he normally becomes when he is being confronted with such issues.
He however admitted that teachers who have salary issues, promotion, and upgrading issues might not be able to live fully up to their task with regards to delivery in the classroom and therefore added that the MOE in bed with the GES is setting up a portal to cater for the above-mentioned teacher-related problems.
“I become so concerned because the teacher whose salaries have been delayed unduly will never be able to perform function the way he or she should perform it. Therefore, the ministry of education in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service is setting up a special Teachers portal where all those Teachers with complaints will go and Register their concerns and his ministry is going to assign case managers who will take the complaints of these Teachers to the Ghana Education service to ensure that all those challenges of Teachers are reduced if not completely eradicated”, he revealed.
He additionally indicated that he will continuously check on the dashboard of the portal to see if truly the case of teachers is reduced or not when the portal is launched.
Moreover, the minister said that the National Teaching Council (NTC) Teacher Licensing will NOT disadvantage any teachers and therefore called on all teachers to partake in the exercise as this will help to curb the chokepoints in the teaching profession completely.
