The negotiation for the 2021 base pay commenced in March 2021. After negotiations halted for the Tripartite Committee to determine the minimum wage which forms an integral part in determining the 2021 base pay.

Information gathered by indicates that
Base pay negotiation for all public sector workers Public Sector Salary Negotiations “almost” ends today with the government only prepared to offer a 4% increment effective January 2021.

This is set to be implemented in July 2021 salary.

However, arrears for previous months will be paid in bits by the government. According to information shared with, August, September, October, November 2021, salaries will be paid each with 1-month arrears of 4% as December salaries come with 2 months arrears in addition to the increment, that’s the 4%.

The government is willing to increase from 4% to 7% in 2022 starting January.
Teacher unions have however not agreed to the said outcome of the negotiation and have vowed to take necessary actions.
