Problems regarding promotions, upgrading, allowances of all kinds are being seriously worked on-Adutwum Discloses
The Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has disclosed that issues regarding teachers’ promotions, upgrading, allowances of all kinds are being seriously worked on. Speaking at the GNAT at 90 Business Forum held at the Bediako Conference Hall-Accra, he urged teachers and all educational stakeholders to exercise much patience as the ministry establishes a desk to address all concerns of teachers since productivity can only increase if the teacher is happy to go about his duties.
The minister who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe Constituency additionally revealed that many policies have been put in place to improve quality of education by the Ministry. According to the minister, the MOE is building of 20 STEM schools across the country which will help improve Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics in the country.
The Ministry has also launched the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) which is being pursued by the Ministry to help children with exceptional talents develop them. He also indicated that the Gross Tertiary Enrollment Ratio (GTER) targets to retain at least 40% of the number of students graduating from pre-tertiary moving to the Tertiary.
He also added that the Program for International Students Assessment (PISA) has been launched to imbibe in children at the Basic level critical thinking skills and knowledge that will allow the children to solve real-life challenges through experience gained from mathematics and science.
