Reverted Arrears: CAGD refuses to pay teachers after upgrade/promotion
The Controller and Accountant General Department (CAGD) has refused to pay teachers upgrading and promotion arrears which were reverted due to technical errors.
In January 2023, some teachers were upgraded/Promoted to their respective ranks mainly the principal superintendent rank.
Some arrears due these staff appeared on the Payment Vouchers during validation. But surprisingly, during payments, these arrears were reverted, and the controller and accountant general release a circular that there were some errors so the arrears shall be in February 2023.
According to the information gathered, affected persons waited patiently for the arrears to be paid in February but to their amazement, salaries paid only catered for that particular month.
Meanwhile, the management of CAG has not updated affected staff about the situation which live them confused as to whether the said arrears will be paid or not.
The victims have therefore called on the management of CAGD, GES, and the teacher unions to investigate the matter and make sure the right thing is done.
