University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) has been ranked second best in Ghana and 36th in Africa by AD Scientific Index in the World Scientist and University Rankings 2021, beating KNUST, UCC and GIMPA, among other universities.
AD Scientific Index (Alper-Doger Scientific Index) is a ranking and analysis system based on the scientific performance and added value of the scientific productivity of individual scientists and institutions, taking into consideration the scientific characteristics of affiliated scientists. In all, a total of 706,043 scientists/lecturers from 187 countries and 11,518 universities were involved in the exercise, of which 627 scientists/lecturers and 32 universities were from Ghana.
UHAS Founding Vice Chancellor, Prof. Fred Newton Binka and Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Seth Owusu-Agyei— both in the field of Medical and Health Sciences/Epidemiology — placed first and second in UHAS, second and third in Ghana, and 83rd and 105th in Africa, respectively.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. John Gyapong placed fourth in Ghana, third in UHAS and 111th in Africa in the subject area of Medical and Health Sciences /Epidemiology and Public Health. Prof. Margaret Gyapong came in fourth in UHAS, 13th in Ghana, and 549th in Africa in the subject area of Social Sciences/Sociology. VIEW RANKINGS WEBSITE HERE
