We will push for an appreciable pandemic-economic-compliant percentage with arrears-GNAT

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has indicated that it will push for an appreciable pandemic-economic-compliant percentage with arrears following a press statement issued by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations MELR).

According to a blog post sighted by educanghana and signed by Adansi West District GNAT vice Chairman, Hon Prosper Maar, the National Tripartite Committee which is made up of Government, Organized Labour (TUC, GNAT, GFL, and CLOGSAG) and Ghana Employers Association (GEA) are scheduled to meet on Thursday, 22nd April 2021 in Accra to determine the 2021 National Daily Minimum Wage.

Therefore, teachers are hereby educated that GNAT is the Teacher Union that holds the Collective Bargaining Certificate and is legally recognized as such to negotiate with Government on all Labour issues for all Teachers in Ghana.

The GNAT has however promised all the teachers especially its members that it will push for an appreciable percentage during the day of negotiation.

“At this meeting, GNAT will push for an appreciable pandemic-economic-compliant percentage with arrears when implemented and further push for the official big announcement either before or on Monday, 3rd May 2021, all things being equal”

The union according to the Vice Chairman believes in less talk and more action.
